With his guitar, banjo, jaw harp, bones, spoons and more, Dave leads students on a fun-filled musical journey into American and New York State history. Students become active participants in their own learning as they sing along, respond to questions and act out songs. Topics covered include important dates and facts about the building of the canal, why and how it was used, its connection to the growth of the state and New York City, life on a canal boat and more.
Optional songwriting session available after the concert – write your own Erie Canal song!
Adaptable for K-8, 45-50 minutes
“He is fun and has the kids eating out of his hands. With all we have to accomplish in 4th grade, we appreciate the opportunity to enrich with music”
